President William Ruto’s discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during the Chancellor’s State visit to Kenya in May 2023 revealed Germany‘s commitment to offering around 250,000 jobs to Kenyans, emphasizing the need for language bridging in education.

Omollo stressed the importance of such programs, not only for exporting human resources but also for fostering a broader diaspora community, ultimately bolstering remittances and Kenya’s economy.
President Ruto reaffirmed the significance of the agreement, expressing his determination to connect Kenyan youth with opportunities abroad. The deal is set to be finalized by June 2024.
Germany’s optimism about the partnership was evident during discussions in March, particularly regarding filling gaps in the transport and caregiving sectors.

In addition to advocating for language acquisition, Germany is providing training opportunities, including for bus drivers in Homa Bay County, Western Kenya.
Approximately 100 Kenyans have been identified for this training, with similar opportunities available in the healthcare sector, where candidates are receiving basic medical training before departure.
