Zetech University Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Alice Njuguna, explained that the program seeks to broaden students’ educational experiences by exposing them to expert knowledge in advanced technologies.

She highlighted that the partnership aligns with the institution’s mission of promoting interdisciplinary research and global exposure for its students and faculty.

Speaking at the launch event held at Zetech University’s Ruiru Campus, Prof. Njuguna emphasized the impact of the collaboration on postgraduate programs in Computer Science and IT. She noted that students would benefit from dual teaching arrangements involving faculty from both Zetech and Christ University.

Additionally, she revealed plans for student exchange programs to Asia’s Silicon Valley, offering learners a chance to collaborate with top tech companies on the continent.

Christ University’s Associate Dean, School of Engineering, Prof. Mary Anita, stated that the partnership would prioritize fostering innovation and patent development.

The initiative is set to enhance practical learning and research, especially in Cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, through collaborations with industry giants like QpiAi for Quantum Computing and Advantech for IoT solutions.

“This collaboration presents an exciting opportunity to enhance our postgraduate programmes in Computer Science and IT as our students will be taught by lectures from both Zetech University and Christ University,” said Prof Njuguna.

Prof. Anita noted that the partnership would include joint supervision of student projects, co-authored research publications, and collaborative conferences. She added that Zetech University’s Africa Centre for Data Analytics and Modelling, alongside its Innovation Hub (iZet Hub), would play a pivotal role in facilitating these activities.

Seminars on patent writing will also be organized to guide faculty and students on protecting their intellectual property. According to Prof. Anita, this focus on real-world applications ensures students acquire hands-on experience while contributing to technological advancements globally.

This collaboration marks a step forward in enhancing Zetech University’s position as a hub for academic excellence and innovation in technology education.
