Govt Appeals to Parents to Support Children’s Transition to Tertiary Education.
The Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has urged parents to play an active role in ensuring their children successfully transition to tertiary education after completing the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Dr. Omollo underscored the government’s significant investment in education, emphasizing the vital role of parents in encouraging their children to pursue higher learning opportunities, whether in universities or technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions. He noted that fostering human resource development is crucial for national progress.
“Let’s ensure our children, whether they have qualified to join university or the technical and vocational colleges, do so because if we are to change the country, then we need to continue investing in our human resources,” he said.
Dr. Omollo stressed that enabling children to pursue tertiary education is a pivotal step in building a skilled workforce. He stated that sustained investment in human resources is key to transforming the country, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering an educated and skilled population.
Speaking at a burial ceremony in Homa Bay, Dr. Omollo also commended the government’s strides in reducing reliance on imported staples like maize and sugar by supporting local production. He urged farmers to take advantage of subsidised fertiliser programmes to enhance agricultural productivity.
To ensure household food security and generate surplus for marketing, he advised farmers to embrace these initiatives. He noted that ignoring fertiliser use had hindered production in the past and called on farmers to seize government opportunities for improved yields.
Labour Migration Opportunities for Youth
In a related development, Shipping and Maritime Affairs Principal Secretary Geoffery Kaituko encouraged the youth to register for the government’s labour migration programme.
He outlined the programme’s potential to provide employment abroad and generate remittances that could improve livelihoods and contribute to economic growth back home.

Dr. Kaituko highlighted the importance of leveraging international work opportunities to address local unemployment while boosting income through remittances.
