Kenyatta University Offers Free ICT Short Courses; How to apply.
Kenyatta University, through its ICT Professional Training and Certification Centre, has introduced free short courses in various ICT fields.
In an update on Monday, January 20, the university stated that the courses are designed for form four graduates, university students, IT professionals, and working individuals who seek to improve their ICT skills and obtain certifications from relevant partners.
The available courses include Introduction to Modern AI, Introduction to Data Science, Operating Systems Basics, Digital Awareness, and Introduction to Cybersecurity.
Course Availability and Learning Modes
Kenyatta University, in collaboration with IBM, has made these courses available at multiple campuses, including the Main Campus, City Campus, Nakuru, Embu, Kitui, Mombasa, and Mama Ngina University College.
To cater to different schedules and learning preferences, the university will offer the courses in three different modes: full-time, part-time, and weekend-only options.
Enrollment Process and Certification
Students interested in registering must use their KU student email addresses and complete an online application form. Those wishing to enroll in multiple courses must submit separate applications for each course.
Upon completion, students will receive a certificate from Cisco. The university emphasized that obtaining the Cisco certificate requires completing both the course and the mandatory course survey at the end.

Application Procedure and Fees
To apply, students should follow these steps:
- Visit KU’s dedicated eCitizen page at https://ku.ecitizen.go.ke.
- Scroll down to Online Applications and select “Application for ICT Certification Courses.”
- Log in using eCitizen account credentials to complete the application.
- Applicants over 18 years old without an eCitizen account must create one in three simple steps using the “Sign Up” button.
- Minors under 18 years old should have their parents or guardians log in and initiate the application on their behalf.
For any difficulties encountered during the application process, applicants can reach out to KU via email for assistance. The university has clarified that an application fee of Ksh. 700 is required, payable to National Bank, Account: 01003059150800.
