Govt Announces Mandatory Customer Service Course for All Public Servants
On Thursday, June 13, Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced a new mandate for all public servants to complete a course in customer service.
This declaration was made during the launch of the Customer Service Excellence Training Framework at the Kenya School of Government.
The course, provided by Huduma Kenya in partnership with the Kenya School of Government, aims to instill a culture of accountability and service excellence among government employees.
Kuria emphasized that this compulsory training would promote a higher standard of public service.
Support from Public Service Leadership
Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, who was also present at the event, confirmed that the training is now a mandatory requirement for all government employees.
He highlighted that this initiative would enhance service delivery and boost productivity within government institutions.
Koskei reiterated Kuria’s sentiments by stating that the Customer Service Excellence Training Framework is a significant step toward achieving the goal of serving Kenyans with dignity and excellence.
Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Service, Amos Gathecha, commended Huduma Kenya for developing the framework.
Gathecha reflected on the journey to the launch, driven by the need to improve customer service in the public sector.
Other notable attendees included Acting Chief Executive Officer of Huduma Kenya, Mugambi Njeru, and Chairperson of the Council of Kenya School of Government, Charles Nyachae.

Huduma Kenya praised the event, describing it as a breakthrough in revolutionizing public service delivery.
However, CS Kuria did not disclose details regarding whether civil servants would have to bear the cost of the course or the consequences of failing to attend the training sessions.
