TSC Replaces Retiring County Directors: New Replacements
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made changes to replace some retiring county directors across the country, according to Education News.
Several key directors have been affected, including James Okong’o from Wajir County and Francis Rotino Lotam from West Pokot.
In Wajir, TSC appointed Ali Yusuff Ahmed, the current deputy, as the interim replacement. Ali has been serving as both Deputy Director (DD) to Okong’o and Sub-County Director (SCD) for Wajir Central.
In West Pokot, Lotam’s deputy, Joseph Musyoka, has been named as the temporary replacement.

Musyoka was recently transferred from Bungoma County, where he served as the SCD for the newly-created Kimaeti Sub-county. Jayne Nyakoe was assigned to Bungoma County to take over as the DD.
Temporary Appointments
An insider at the Commission’s headquarters clarified that those appointed are on a temporary basis, pending substantive appointments.
The temporary appointees are eligible for permanent positions if they qualify for the roles. The source hinted that more temporary changes would occur across the country as directors retire.
The Commission is currently interviewing shortlisted candidates for approximately 13 county director positions that were advertised late last year.
The first round of interviews has been completed, and the second round is underway at the Commission.
Upcoming Changes
- Wajir County: Ali Yusuff Ahmed replaces James Okong’o.
- West Pokot County: Joseph Musyoka replaces Francis Rotino Lotam.
- Bungoma County: Jayne Nyakoe takes over as Deputy Director.
The Commission continues to review and fill the vacancies to ensure smooth transitions and effective management across the counties.
