Baringo County to Hire ECDE Teachers on Permanent and Pensionable Terms.
ECDE teachers in Baringo County have received positive news as the county government announced plans to offer them permanent and pensionable employment.
The county’s Education Executive, Rev. Simon Kiuta, revealed that the 2024/2025 budget had allocated sufficient funds to support this initiative.
Rev. Kiuta explained that out of the 1,589 teachers in the county, 1,083 who are under the age of 50 will be confirmed for permanent and pensionable employment.
“We have 1,083 teachers who are trained and are below the age of 50. Those ones are going to be confirmed on permanent and pensionable terms,” he said.
He also mentioned that the remaining 329 teachers, who are over 50 years old, will have their contracts extended based on their age.
The county has 177 untrained teachers who will receive a one-year contract extension, with the condition that they upgrade their qualifications within that period.
