Government To Build 15,000 Grade 9 Classrooms
The government will build 15,000 classrooms in readiness for Grade Nine enrollment next year, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has stated.
Machogu claims that the government is preparing for Grade Nine, which will take place in primary schools.
During the 62nd National Drama and Film Festival, the CS announced at Kangaru Girls that the ministry will hire 20,000 junior secondary school teachers.
Machogu stated that the ministry has computed the number of classrooms required nationwide per county and that he has presented the information to the Senate.
When it comes to the infrastructure requirements for 2025, the CS stated that everything is in place.
He stated that the government provided the NG-CDF with a conditional grant of Sh3.39 billion to access infrastructure resources, which are being disbursed among constituencies.
To close the gap, the CS stated that they would use the conditional grant to build classrooms.
Furthermore, Machogu stated that the state approached the World Bank and received an allocation of Sh9 billion to build another 9,000 schools.
This will total 15,000 classrooms.
Furthermore, the CS confirmed that primary schools will host Grade 9 as part of the JSS. He stated that the students will proceed to Senior School following Grade 9.
