JSS Teachers Encouraged to Channel Job-Seeking Energy into the Classroom.
Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers have been encouraged to redirect the enthusiasm they showed while advocating for permanent employment towards helping students master the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
This message was conveyed during a recent gathering, where education stakeholders highlighted the teachers’ crucial role in shaping the academic and personal growth of learners.
At a funeral service honoring Esther Chemobo, the late mother of Joab Chemobo, Deputy Principal of Koitabut Secondary School in Nandi South, Nandi Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Executive Secretary, Paul Rotich, expressed optimism that JSS teachers would approach their teaching duties with renewed vigor now that their employment concerns had been addressed.

He indicated that the teachers would hold a thanksgiving ceremony in Kapsabet in January to celebrate the favorable resolution of their employment status.
Recruitment Process Praised for Integrity
Rotich commended the recent teacher recruitment exercise, which he noted was free from the usual political interference that often marred such processes.
He viewed the recruitment as a transparent effort that prioritized the needs of the education sector.
A Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) echoed Rotich’s sentiments, emphasizing that teachers have a significant impact on shaping learners’ futures.
The officer urged JSS teachers to focus on consistently achieving teaching and learning objectives, thereby enhancing educational outcomes.
The CSO also affirmed the commission’s dedication to hiring more teachers, contingent upon securing additional funding from the treasury.
