KCSE Candidate Stabbed to Death in Nakuru After Dispute with Classmates.
A KCSE candidate from Shiners Boys High School in Nakuru tragically succumbed to stab injuries on Sunday morning after an altercation with other students the previous night. The fatal incident, which involved a fight over personal belongings, unfolded during the ongoing national exams.
The deceased student, identified as Ngugi Muciiri, was admitted to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital with severe injuries but could not be saved. His body has since been transferred to the Nakuru morgue, where an autopsy is expected.
Details of the Incident
The fight reportedly stemmed from a dispute over damaged personal items. Authorities stated that four students targeted Muciiri, suspecting him of damaging their belongings. The altercation took place around 8:00 pm on Saturday night, resulting in Muciiri being fatally wounded in the lower abdomen.

When the incident occurred, Shiners Boys High School Principal John Mwangi was alerted by commotions and screams from the dormitory area. Mwangi, along with other teachers, rushed to the scene but arrived after Muciiri had already sustained life-threatening injuries.
Arrests and Investigation
The four students involved, including the one who allegedly wielded the knife, fled the scene initially but were later apprehended by police. Gilgil Deputy County Commissioner Willy Cheboi confirmed their arrest, stating that the main suspect and three accomplices are now in custody.
Gilgil sub-county police commander Winstone Mwakio shared that the four students had previously been suspended from school due to disciplinary issues. Upon their return for the KCSE exams, they discovered their personal items destroyed, which prompted the deadly attack on Muciiri. Mwakio raised concerns about the prevalence of indiscipline at the school.
Authorities expressed unease over the ease with which the knife, used in the attack, was smuggled onto the school premises. Police are actively investigating how the weapon was brought in and the underlying circumstances of the conflict.
Principal and Family Statements
Principal Mwangi recounted that by the time they reached the dormitory, Muciiri had already been severely injured, with his intestines exposed from the stab wound. He added that the school community is reeling from the tragic loss, and that efforts are underway to assist police with their investigation.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court next week, as police continue their investigation into the incident.
