Kenya to Host East Africa Games in 2025: Co-Curriculum Events Schedule.

Kenya is set to host the East Africa Games under the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) banner, with Nakuru County serving as the venue.

Basic Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang disclosed this while releasing the sports calendar for the next year, outlining preparations for the FEASSA event, which will bring together national champions from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, and Burundi.

The Term One Secondary School Sports (under 18) nationals will take place in Mombasa’s Coast Region from April 5 to 13, 2025.

Clinics are scheduled for April 5 to 7, with teams arriving on April 6. The opening ceremony is planned for April 7 at Shanzu Teachers Training College (TTC).

Matches and competitions will run from April 8 to 12, culminating in the closing ceremony on the final day at Shanzu TTC. Sports activities include Rugby 15s, Athletics, Basketball 5×5, Hockey, Handball, Cross-Country, and Swimming.

Primary and Junior School Sports

Primary School Sports (under 12) will also be held in Mombasa from April 5 to 12, with clinics on April 5 and 6 and team arrivals on April 6.

The opening ceremony is set for April 7 at Shanzu TTC, while the action days will run from April 8 to 11, concluding at NYS Grounds, Likoni, on April 11. Activities include Athletics, Kids Athletics, Gymnastics, and Cross-Country.

The Primary School Special School Athletics program will follow the same schedule, with its closing ceremony held on April 11 at Ziwani School for the Deaf. Junior Schools Sports (under 15) will run concurrently, featuring Athletics, Cross-Country, Basketball 5×5, Rugby 7s, and Swimming, with the closing ceremony at NYS Grounds, Likoni.

National Drama, Film, and Science Events

The National Drama and Film Festival will occur between April 7 and 19 at Afraha High School in Nakuru. Teams are expected to report on April 7 for the opening ceremony the following day.

Performances will run from April 8 to 14, with the gala concert scheduled for April 15 and 16 and the State Concert on April 18.

The Kenya Science and Engineering Fair will take place at Kangaru High School in Embu County, Eastern Region, from April 6 to 12.

Clinics and arrivals are planned for April 6, followed by an opening ceremony on April 7. Competitions will run from April 8 to 11.

Teachers Training Colleges and Term Two Games

Teachers Training Colleges (TTC) sports for Term One will be held from March 23 to April 4 at Kibabii Diploma TTC in Bungoma County.

Activities begin with clinics on March 23 and 24, followed by games from March 25 to April 3. The closing ceremony is set for April 3.

Term Two Ball Games for Secondary Schools, Junior Schools, Primary Schools, and Special Schools will take place from July 26 to August 3 in Nakuru County.

Clinics will be conducted from July 26 to 27, with teams arriving on July 27. The opening ceremony is planned for July 28 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru City. Various venues, including Nakuru High and Kirobon High, will host specific events.

Music and Cultural Festivals

The Kenya Music Festival will be hosted in Meru County’s Meru School and Kaaga Girls High School from August 1 to 14. Teams arrive on August 1, with the opening ceremony on August 2 and performances running from August 2 to 10. Gala and State Concerts are scheduled for August 11 to 13.

The East Africa Music, Dance, and Drama Festival will be held in Arusha, Tanzania, from August 15 to 25. Teams will arrive on August 16, with competitions occurring from August 18 to 23.

By outlining the comprehensive schedule, Kenya reaffirms its commitment to promoting regional sports and cultural integration through these events.
