KESSHA Outlines 2025 Calendar of Events for Secondary School Heads

The Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) has outlined the 2025 calendar of events, beginning with county meetings scheduled between February 26 and April 26, 2024.

These meetings will bring together county, regional, and senior officials from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Ministry of Education (MoE).

During these sessions, school principals will have an opportunity to engage with county and regional directors, as well as senior directors from the TSC and MoE headquarters.

They will present their concerns, provide recommendations, and ask questions, which will then be conveyed to higher authorities within both institutions for evaluation and possible action.

Another key aspect of these meetings is the discussion on the theme of the national conference. Principals will brainstorm and propose solutions to challenges encountered in managing their institutions.

The issues raised in these regional meetings will be compiled and forwarded to the national KESSHA offices. These concerns will form the core agenda for deliberation at the national conference, ensuring that principals’ voices are effectively represented.

National Conference in Mombasa

The regional meetings will culminate in a national conference, a pivotal event set to take place from June 23 to 27 at Sheikh Zayed Hall in Mombasa. This conference will unite school principals from across the country, providing a platform to address key educational issues.

The conference will also host high-ranking decision-makers from the MoE and TSC, who will deliver speeches and participate in interactive question-and-answer sessions.

Recognized as a major event on the school heads’ calendar, this gathering is expected to attract over 10,000 participants, making it a crucial forum for educational leadership discussions.

A significant topic anticipated to dominate the discussions is government funding for schools. Of particular concern will be the recurrent issue of delayed capitation, which directly impacts the smooth operation of institutions.

The event will also serve as an opportunity for school managers to relax and recharge following a demanding academic calendar.

International Conference for Principals

Beyond the national engagements, school heads will also participate in the African Confederation of Principals, which is scheduled to take place from August 25 to 28 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, Uganda.

This conference will provide an international platform for educational leaders to exchange ideas and strategies for improving school management.

The 2025 KESSHA calendar is structured to ensure that principals’ concerns are addressed, solutions are proposed, and school heads have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the education sector at both national and international levels.
