He emphasized that they had also built character, gained knowledge, and developed essential skills for the future.
Over 4,700 students were awarded master’s degrees and diplomas during the ceremony. Prof. Justus Mile, the vice-chancellor, noted that the university continues to lead in promoting women’s education in science and technology.
Expansion of Facilities
Prof. Mile also announced the completion of the School of Business and Management building, describing it as a key achievement for the university. This new facility is expected to accommodate larger classes and provide additional office space, which will allow the institution to meet the increasing demand for quality business education.
“This partnership will enable us to foster greater collaboration in research, innovation and development—key pillars in driving global solutions,” Mile said.
Open and Distance Learning (ODL)
One of the university’s significant accomplishments this year has been the approval of its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme. This initiative aims to offer flexible and accessible learning options for women both in Kenya and internationally, furthering KWUST’s mission of inclusivity in education.
Research and Collaboration
The university has also made strides in research, with a notable partnership signed with UNESCO in preparation for KWUST’s sixth International Research Conference scheduled for November 28–29, 2024.
This collaboration is expected to promote innovation, research, and development—factors that are crucial in addressing global challenges.
