KPSEA Results Out Today on Monday, Says Ogamba
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will release the results of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), according to a statement by the Ministry of Education.
In a press release dated January 4 and signed by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos, parents of pupils who sat for the KPSEA were advised to check the results promptly once the portal becomes accessible.
The Ministry clarified that learner reports for the KPSEA will be available on school portals during the week starting January 6, 2025. This assessment is a vital evaluation for Grade 6 students, marking a key transitional stage influenced by the competency-based curriculum (CBC).
KPSEA represents an essential milestone in the academic journey of the pioneer cohort of the CBC.

The Ministry confirmed that these learners are set to transition to Grade 9 this term as scheduled. Furthermore, it was reiterated that results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will be released within the first two weeks of January.
School Calendar for 2025
The Ministry also announced that the first term of 2025 will last 13 weeks, including a 5-day midterm break. All schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 6, 2025.
A total of 1,313,913 candidates participated in the KPSEA in 2024, sitting their exams in 35,573 centers across the country.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth academic transition for learners. To facilitate this, the government embarked on the construction of 16,000 classrooms nationwide in four phases, achieving a 93 percent completion rate.
In areas where construction remains incomplete, education officers and school heads were instructed to implement temporary measures to ensure the safety of learners.
Provision of Learning Materials and Capitation Funds
The Ministry confirmed that 9,926,618 textbooks have already been distributed to schools nationwide, with the expectation that the process will conclude by January 6, 2025, to support uninterrupted academic operations.

On capitation funding, the Ministry revealed plans to disburse Ksh48.3 billion in three phases. In term two, schools will receive 50 percent of the funds, followed by 30 percent in term three, and the remaining 20 percent thereafter.
