KUCCPS: 2023 KCSE Students Given Until Midnight to Apply for University Slots
On Wednesday, April 3, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) issued a 24-hour notice for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates to apply for tertiary courses, with a focus on 2023 KCSE students seeking admission to various universities and colleges.
According to KUCCPS, the application system will close on Thursday, effectively losing their possibility to pursue higher education. KUCCPS further stated that the application platform is partially accessible to students who take their KCSE exam between 2000 and 2022.
These students can apply for diplomas, certificates, and craft courses, according to KUCCPS.
KUCCPS announced that the application portal would shut down on April 4, 2024. Log onto students.kuccps.net to apply for degree, diploma, certificate, and artisan courses.”
Only pupils who received a C+ or higher on their 2023 KCSE exams are eligible for degree courses. Meanwhile, individuals who received a C (plain) or C- (minus) are eligible for certain diploma courses.

Colleges, polytechnics, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions provide certificate courses to students who received a D (plain) or D- (minus) grade. Other students can apply to KUCCPS artisanal courses at other TVET institutes.
Students who earned a C+ or higher in years other than 2023 are still eligible for degree programs, but they must apply directly to their desired university.

These students will be ineligible for government scholarships, although they can still apply for loans from the Higher Education Loans Board.
