KUPPET Van Stolen from Church Parking Lot in Bold Heist.
In a daring daylight theft, unknown individuals stole a van belonging to the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET).
The vehicle, essential for the union’s operations, was taken from the ACK St Christopher Church parking lot in Milimani, Nakuru, leaving the organization scrambling to recover it.
The incident, which occurred on January 19, involved a branded Toyota Hiace van with registration number KDN 360U. The vehicle featured yellow, green, white, and black markings, making it easily identifiable.
How the Van Was Stolen
At approximately 6 pm, two individuals approached the church’s guarded parking lot. They reportedly distracted the security guard by requesting water. During this moment of confusion, one of them got into the van and drove off.
- Guard’s Account: The men pretended to be interested in borrowing the vehicle, creating an opportunity to execute their plan.
- KUPPET’s Reaction: Duncan Macharia, Secretary of the KUPPET Nakuru branch, expressed dismay over the rising trend of thefts, even in secure locations. He described the theft as a significant setback for the union’s community services.
The theft was reported to the Show Ground Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Kaptembwa.
