Mandera County Unveils Sh460 Million Education Bursary.
Mandera County has launched the third phase of its Sh460 million Elimu Kwa Wote bursary programme, a significant stride toward improving education access and quality.
The initiative will support 34,372 secondary school students and 5,697 university and college students, reflecting the county’s commitment to fostering academic excellence.
Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif emphasized that the bursary programme has greatly contributed to improved performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) over the past two years.
He attributed this success to the county’s subsidized secondary education initiative, which has also driven an impressive 98% transition rate to secondary schools. This achievement underscores Mandera’s dedication to ensuring that every child has access to education.
Governor Khalif expressed his hope that students would take full advantage of the programme to excel academically and contribute to the county’s development. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to empowering the youth through education.
Mandera Senator Ali Roba commended the county government for prioritizing education and the empowerment of young learners. He urged residents to support the administration in achieving its education and development objectives.
Senator Roba highlighted the importance of community involvement to ensure the success of the county’s manifesto.
Call to Action for Parents
“We must all rally behind this initiative to ensure the manifesto on education and other developmental programmes is fully realized,” said Senator Roba.
Mandera County Commissioner Henry Ochako lauded the initiative and stressed the crucial role of education in societal progress. He encouraged parents to take full advantage of the free education opportunities provided by the county.
Additionally, he cautioned against early marriages, particularly for young girls, emphasizing the need to prioritize education for all children.
The Elimu Kwa Wote programme exemplifies Mandera County’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for all students. By empowering the youth, improving academic outcomes, and promoting educational equity, the initiative paves the way for a brighter and more inclusive future.
