Masii Boys High School Fire Destroys Dormitory
A fire broke out in a dormitory at Masii Boys High School in Mwala, Machakos County, causing major property damage, according to Mwala subcounty police chief Nancy Jerobon.
The event occurred on Tuesday evening, with the fire apparently beginning shortly after 7 p.m. Jerobon said the dormitory was damaged and that goods of undefined value were lost in the blaze.
Jerobon reports that the incident did not result in any injuries. Although the school had been closed, students with Grade D scores remained on site to pay tuition and were present when the fire broke out. The cause of the fire has yet to be identified.
Residents, students, and teachers worked together to fight the fire. Jerobon, working with police officers, ensured the evacuation and safety of people on the school grounds, while also protecting the institution’s property.
The Machakos County Government’s fire brigade assisted in containing the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring structures.
