Migori Governor Demands Fair Pay and Better Working Conditions for School Heads.
Migori Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko acknowledged the critical role teachers play in shaping the country’s future, noting that they manage children’s education, health, safety, and discipline from a young age despite receiving little recognition, limited resources, and inadequate pay.
He highlighted that head teachers significantly contribute to building future leaders, professionals, and agents of change and emphasized the need for the national government to review their compensation.
The governor condemned the insufficient infrastructure and the absence of basic amenities in many rural schools, drawing attention to the tough environments educators endure. He stressed that school heads often face unfair blame for academic underperformance even though they receive little assistance from parents and communities.
Ayacko called for more collaboration between schools, families, and local stakeholders to create a supportive learning atmosphere for children.
