Parents and Teachers Applaud Education Advancements in Trans Mara West.

Teachers and parents in Trans Mara West Sub County have expressed appreciation for the local Member of Parliament, Julius Sunkuli, for his significant contributions to enhancing school infrastructure. His initiatives have positively transformed the learning environment and improved student experiences in the area.

During the inauguration of new classrooms at Inkoriento Primary School, Johnson Kimurata, the school’s head teacher, acknowledged the MP’s unwavering dedication to improving educational facilities. Kimurata noted that the quality of classrooms had substantially improved, leading to a rise in student enrolment over the past two years.

Kimurata recounted a critical period when Inkoriento Primary was temporarily closed due to poor sanitation. He highlighted how support from the Kilgoris NG-CDF office facilitated the construction of additional toilets, enabling the school to reopen and continue serving the community.

“The quality of classrooms has drastically improved, and this has had a direct impact on student enrolment over the past two years,” Kamara remarked.

The newly constructed classrooms have had a direct impact on enrolment figures across local schools, according to Kimurata. The improved facilities have attracted more students, ensuring better access to education for the community.

Parents Reflect on Changes

Representing parents, Joshua Kilerai shared insights into the historical challenges faced by schools in the region.

Traditionally, institutions were constructed using semi-permanent materials like iron sheets and mud. He commended the Kilgoris NG-CDF office for spearheading the construction of modern classrooms, significantly improving the educational landscape.

Kilerai also acknowledged the MP’s dedication to addressing long-standing challenges, noting that since taking office, Sunkuli has overseen numerous renovations and the construction of classrooms in various schools.

“Since taking office, Sunkuli has overseen the renovation and construction of new classrooms in schools,” added Kilerai.

Joan Mutai, the Trans Mara West Sub County Education Director, confirmed that many schools, including Inkoriento Primary, were initially built with substandard materials. She highlighted the critical role played by the Kilgoris NG-CDF office in upgrading schools, enhancing the quality of education in the constituency.

During the commissioning ceremony, MP Sunkuli urged teachers to take responsibility for delivering quality education. He stressed that student success depends not just on exam performance but also on the commitment of teachers.

Sunkuli outlined the broader contributions of the NG-CDF, which have extended beyond schools to include feeder road construction and other community developments. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring schools remain environments of pride for both learners and educators.

The newly commissioned classrooms—two at Inkoriento Primary School and two at Ilkujuka Primary School—are part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to provide a conducive learning environment.

Alignment with National Goals

These infrastructural developments align with the government’s push to implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). MP Sunkuli emphasized the importance of the NG-CDF in supporting education, arguing against any moves to abolish the fund.
