Retirees Urged to Complete Self-Registration Before February Deadline or Miss Pension.
Pensioners and dependants receiving monthly payments from the Pensions Department of the National Treasury have until 28th February 2025 to complete their self-registration.
The exercise, which began on 5th December 2024, is in its final phase, and those who have yet to register are urged to do so promptly to prevent disruptions in their pension disbursements.
With the majority of pensioners already registered, the National Treasury is calling on the remaining beneficiaries to ensure their details are updated before the deadline.
Registration Process and Requirements
Pensioners can register online via the e-Citizen Portal under the Pensions Department section or seek assistance at Huduma Centres, Treasury Pensions Department offices, and designated registration agents.
To complete the registration, pensioners or dependants must possess a valid email address, mobile phone number, KRA PIN, and an e-Citizen account. Additionally, the following documents must be uploaded in scanned PDF format:
- National ID (both sides)
- Bank or SACCO ATM card (face side only, showing name and account number)
- Birth certificates for children
- Death certificates for deceased pensioners
- Tax exemption certificates for Persons with Disabilities (if applicable)
A step-by-step guide is available on the registration portal to assist pensioners in the process. The online platform allows 24/7 registration using a smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer from any location.
Targeted Pensioners
The self-registration exercise is a mandatory requirement for pensioners in the following categories:
- Retired State Officers
- Civil Servants
- Former Teachers under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- Police, Prisons, and National Youth Service Officers
- Military personnel
- Dependants of deceased pensioners
