A neighbor contacted Mwendwa in the middle of the night to break the news of the devastating incident.

Upon returning, Mwendwa found his house engulfed in smoke, surrounded by neighbors who, though present, were unable to do anything except watch in shock as the fire ravaged his home.

Police Investigation

Law enforcement was promptly notified, and investigations have since been launched to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities are working to identify and prosecute anyone responsible.

Mwendwa shared with Citizen Digital that he had provided the Assistant Chief with the name of a suspect he believes may be behind the fire. However, he expressed frustration that the individual had not yet been summoned for questioning.

Assistant Chief Jamleck Mbai assured that police are pursuing key leads, which could result in arrests, should they find sufficient evidence. The authorities are committed to resolving the case and holding those responsible accountable.

While the investigation continues, Mwendwa remains optimistic that justice will be served. Despite being rendered homeless, he and his wife hold on to the hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, allowing them some sense of closure amidst their loss.
