The key component of the TPAD system is the incorporation of teachers’ biographical information and educational credentials. This process includes:

  • Provide personal and institutional information, as well as contact information.
  • Choosing subjects for teaching and submitting combinations.
  • Adding information on the educational level, such as KCSE grade, greatest level of education acquired, and institution of study.

Teachers are required to conduct self-assessments in a variety of areas and enter the results online.

In the new TPAD system, the principal takes on many crucial responsibilities:

  • Arrange appraisal meetings for the deputy principal.

TPAD process steps

The Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) process consists of many critical elements designed to enable successful assessment and improvement of teaching quality.

The process starts with the creation of an appraisal calendar, which is followed by the setting of goals to guide the teacher’s performance.

Teachers proceed to the implementation phase after setting targets, where they gather evidence to evaluate progress and results.

Self-appraisal is an important phase in which teachers reflect on their performance and compare it to specified competencies and standards.

Appraisers then use the acquired facts to produce an objective appraisal rating.

The appraiser and appraisee then hold an appraisal rating meeting to examine questions and evidence, fostering communication and understanding.

The appraisee and appraiser work together to identify performance gaps, setting the path for targeted assistance and development efforts.

Finally, the TPAD approach seeks to improve teaching quality through systematic evaluation and support methods.
