TSC Addresses Teachers Recruitment Portal Glitch As Thousands Scramble for 46,000 Job Vacancies.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Thursday addressed concerns regarding the inaccessibility of the teacher recruitment portal, clarifying that the issue was due to technical difficulties.

TSC issued the clarification after teachers raised concerns about being locked out of the recruitment process.

Many applicants had taken to social media to express their frustration, with some speculating that the portal’s malfunction was an intentional move to block certain people from applying.

TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia explained that efforts were being made to resolve the problem, urging applicants to be patient during the restoration process.

The Commission apologized for the inconvenience caused and reassured potential candidates that they were working diligently to restore the portal.

“We regret to inform you that we are currently experiencing technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal. “

“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and kindly request your patience as we work diligently to restore the portal as soon as possible,” TSC said.

The deadline for job applications is fast approaching, and many are anxious about missing the opportunity due to the portal’s inaccessibility.

Applicants shared their experiences online, with one stating that they had been unable to log in since yesterday, despite the looming Monday deadline.

Another user questioned how the Commission could advertise online recruitment when the website was down.

Mass Recruitment and Portal Accessibility

The technical issue arose just two days after TSC had announced a large-scale recruitment drive.

The Commission had advertised 46,000 teaching positions across primary, junior secondary, and secondary schools, all under permanent and pensionable terms.

TSC had outlined the available positions as follows:

  • 6,000 positions for primary school teachers
  • 39,550 positions for junior secondary school teachers
  • 450 positions for secondary school teachers

In the recruitment notice, TSC instructed interested and qualified candidates to submit their applications online through its website, either at www.tsc.go.ke under the ‘Careers’ section or at teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
