TSC Pension Processing: What Teachers Need for Faster Dues Settlement
Teachers who reach the age of 60 will receive a retirement notice two years before their retirement date, although in special circumstances, a shorter notice may be issued by the Commission.
Upon receiving the retirement notice, teachers are required to take the following steps promptly:
- Submit all necessary documents as listed in the notice.
- Provide complete details of their bank account on the provided bank forms.
- Opt to commute a portion of their pension, up to a quarter.
- Verify their tax status with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and resolve any outstanding tax obligations.

To facilitate faster processing of pension dues, retiring teachers MUST provide several documents:
- A duly filled-out Teachers Service Commission (TSC) clearance certificate.
- Two copies of a bank plate (both sides).
- Two copies of a national ID card (both sides).
- A completed option to commute pension form in duplicate.
- A completed lump sum payment form (bank form).
- Two copies of all promotion letters/certificates.
- The earliest payslip showing deductions for the Women’s and Children’s Pensions Scheme (WCPS) for male teachers.
- Marriage certificates/affidavits to confirm names for married teachers whose documents bear different names.
- NSSF statements for teachers who served as Untrained Teachers.
- Two copies of a KRA PIN certificate.
