TSC Teacher Transfer Application Process and Rules
Did you know that the Teachers Service Commission permits teachers to seek transfers, provided specific criteria are met?
The TSC Appointment Board receives and accepts transfer requests once each year at the end of the fiscal year. TSC provides a specific process for requesting a transfer, including completing a TSC transfer form.
Keep in mind that the TSC has the authority to transfer teachers even if they have not applied for one.
If you desire to change schools or institutions, the Teachers Service Commission has devised a process for doing so.
To qualify for the transfer, you must meet the standards provided in the TSC Code of Regulations.
The TSC may transfer teachers for a variety of reasons, including the availability of a vacancy in the area, the need for teacher replacement, medical grounds certified by a registered medical expert, and other factors deemed necessary by the TSC.
Policies governing TSC transfers
As previously stated, the Code of Regulation outlines the terms and conditions for TSC Kenya transfers.
Teachers on their first appointment or posting with the Commission are not eligible for a transfer unless they have been with the institution for five years.
However, the Teachers Service Commission may examine these teachers’ applications if there are medical grounds (as established by a registered physician) or other compelling reasons.
Teachers on their first appointment or posting with the Commission are not eligible for a transfer unless they have served in the institution for five years.
Nevertheless, if the Commission is in charge of facilitating a teacher’s transfer from one sub-county to another, it must pay the transfer allowance.

Steps to follow while requesting a TSC transfer.
The following procedure outlines the process for applying for an inter-county TSC transfer.
You can find a TSC transfer application form on the Teachers Service Commission’s website or at their offices nationwide.
To apply for the TSC, contact the head of your institution. If you are applying for an inter- or intra-county transfer, you must fill out the form in three copies. If your transfer request falls within the same sub-county, only one copy is required.
After the form is completed, the head of your institution must submit it to the TSC or its regional representatives.
The Teachers Service Commission prohibits transferring from one institution to another without a letter of transfer.
Additionally, once the Commission has approved it, heads of institutions must release teachers no later than 30 days after the transfer date.
Furthermore, school principals must provide the Commission with entry and exit reports for the engaged teachers.
Previously, teachers asking for TSC exchange transfers relied solely on notices obtained from local education authorities.

Teachers are now using social media channels to hunt for exchange transfer options within and outside of their counties.
A swap transfer operates similarly to a replacement. If teacher Y in County A wants to serve in County B, he can find teacher X who is willing to go from County B to County A.
In such circumstances, other considerations, such as your topic of study or department, become relevant. Furthermore, such transfers require approval from the Teachers Service Commission.
