The National Treasury has allocated Sh109.9 billion for basic education in preparation for the new academic year.
Of this, Sh65.2 billion will support Free Day Secondary Education, Sh35.3 billion will fund Junior Secondary Education, and Sh9.36 billion is designated for Free Primary Education.
Speaking at Moi Secondary School in Nakuru Town West Sub-County, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba stated that the timely release of these funds will ensure a seamless transition as schools resume.

The government has initiated a comprehensive audit of boarding schools to ensure student safety.

Ogamba disclosed that 348 schools falling short of the required safety standards will be barred from operating their boarding components starting January 2025.
The CS reaffirmed the State’s dedication to achieving the Education 2030 agenda, which involves staffing all schools with qualified teachers.
He highlighted the importance of creating a conducive work environment with appropriate tools, resources, and career progression paths for educators.
