Idd-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which began on March 11, 2024.

For Muslims worldwide, it signifies the conclusion of a month committed to fasting and spiritual development, a time of celebration, reflection, and thankfulness.

Idd-ul-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” begins with the sighting of the new moon. Following this, Muslims engage in a communal prayer known as Salat al-Eid.

Following the prayer, Muslims greet one another with “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid) and exchange gifts before having meals with loved ones.

The practice of zakat al-fitr, a kind of charitable giving in which Muslims are expected to offer a specified amount of money or food to people in need before to the Eid prayer, is a notable ritual during Eid.

This custom guarantees that the festivities are inclusive, allowing everyone to participate.
