Education CS Ogamba Reaffirms Support for Teachers’ Welfare and Staffing.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migosi Ogamba has pledged a commitment to empowering teachers and educators through comprehensive measures that include adequate recruitment, effective training, professional qualifications, motivation, and support.
Ogamba emphasized the importance of ensuring qualified and motivated teachers operate in safe environments with access to necessary tools, resources, and proper working conditions.
He noted that the right to education mandates the recruitment and retention of such educators, who must also receive fair remuneration.
To achieve these objectives, Ogamba revealed that the government is implementing strategies such as competitive remuneration and structured career progression paths.

He explained that these initiatives are part of efforts to provide teachers with decent working conditions, reinforcing their empowerment and capacity to deliver quality education.
“We are putting in place proper incentives, which include appropriate remuneration and a clear career progression path. The government is working round the clock to ensure teachers are empowered through the provision of decent working conditions,” Ogamba stated.
Progress Toward Education Goals
The Cabinet Secretary highlighted the need for qualified teachers in every school nationwide to realize the Education 2030 agenda.
He reported that the government, through the Teachers Service Commission, had already recruited 56,000 teachers and planned to hire an additional 20,000 by January next year.
