Handling Name Discrepancies in TSC Recruitment: Teachers Guidelines

In the recruitment process for teachers under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), it is crucial for applicants to ensure that their names are consistent across all academic and professional certificates, identification cards, and other documents.

Discrepancies in names can lead to complications during the verification process. Here are the guidelines for handling name variations:

Affidavit Requirement:

Applicants whose names differ in their academic and professional certificates compared to their identification cards must provide an Affidavit. This affidavit should be sworn under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act, Cap 15 of the Laws of Kenya, explaining the reason for the name variation.

Submission of Certified Documents:

Applicants are required to present certified copies of all relevant academic and professional certificates. This includes the need to provide certified copies of national examination certificates if they have re-sat any examinations (e.g., KCPE or KCSE).

Consequences of Non-Compliance:

Failure to present a valid Affidavit for name discrepancies may result in disqualification from the recruitment process. It is imperative for applicants to address any inconsistencies beforehand to avoid any potential issues during document verification.

Document Verification Process:

During the verification exercise, the TSC Sub-County Director and the Selection Panel will scrutinize all documents to ensure authenticity. This includes verifying the TSC registration status of applicants.

Importance of Accuracy:

Providing accurate and truthful information in the application process is essential. Any misleading information can lead to immediate cancellation of the application or offer of employment.

By adhering to these guidelines, applicants can ensure a smoother recruitment process and avoid unnecessary complications related to name discrepancies.
