KICD Extends Deadline for Secondary Schools‘ Feedback on Grade 10 CBC
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has announced an extension for education stakeholders to submit their views on the Grade 10 Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) designs. Initially set for July 31, the deadline has now been moved to August 31.
In July, the Ministry of Education, through KICD, called upon all education stakeholders, particularly secondary school principals and teachers, to review the Grade 10 CBC designs and provide their feedback.
Stakeholders were encouraged to evaluate various components of the curriculum design and offer their insights.

Since its introduction in 2019, the Ministry of Education has progressively implemented the CBC. The first cohort, currently in Grade 8, is expected to advance to Grade 9 in 2025 and Grade 10 in 2026, marking their entry into senior school.
The CBC was designed to replace the 8-4-4 system, which had been criticized for being overly focused on exams and insufficiently preparing students for the job market and real-life challenges.
