KNEC Alerts Public to Fake KCSE Exam Leak Scams
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) urged Kenyans to be cautious of fraudsters who claim to share leaked Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
In a brief statement, KNEC clarified that reports of leaked national exams were false, emphasizing that the documents circulating online were fake.
This clarification followed allegations that the KCSE scheduled for November had been leaked and was being shared through WhatsApp groups.

Fraudulent Activities
The flagged WhatsApp group claimed to offer:
- Leaked KCSE exam papers
- Kenya Medical and Training College (KMTC) leakage
- Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) leakage
Additionally, the group alleged to provide KMTC placement connections for those not placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) at a cost of Ksh7500.
They also purported to handle issues such as the replacement of lost certificates.
Recent Developments
KNEC’s warning comes shortly after Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko revealed that about 290 county employees possessed irregular and fake academic certificates.
Ayacko stated that the names of these employees would not be disclosed until the investigations were complete to avoid litigation.
He mentioned that the certificates inspected included KCPE, the Certificate of Primary Education (CPE), KCSE, and the Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE).
