Machogu: 16 TVETs Set for Construction in TVET@100 Celebration
In the Financial Year (FY) 2024-2025, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu announced the allocation of funds for the construction of 16 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs) institutions, each located in a distinct constituency.
He made this statement during the TVET 100 Years breakfast meeting at Kabete National Polytechnic.
Machogu emphasized that the government has swiftly established 238 TVET institutions, leaving only 52 constituencies without such facilities, with plans to establish them within the next three years.
During the meeting, Machogu emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary equipment to the 70 TVET institutions that currently lack it.
He stated that the government has allocated funds for this purpose and expects to deliver the equipment within the next two to three months.

Machogu highlighted some of the TVET sector’s achievements, including the establishment of TVET institutions and the employment of 1,300 TVET trainers.
Additionally, ongoing recruitment efforts aim to hire an additional 2,000 tutors to support the sector.
He underscored the importance of these investments, noting that over 80% of last year’s KCSE exam candidates qualified for TVET enrollment.
President William Ruto initiated a nationwide tour of the TVET torch at the Nyeri National Polytechnic two months ago to mark the celebration of 100 years of TVET institutions.
Machogu revealed that the torch will visit all 47 counties, encouraging young people to enroll in TVETs. The 100th anniversary celebrations at Kabete Poly, scheduled for July 31, will mark the conclusion of the tour.
