Moi University Alumni Demand Immediate Dismissal of Vice Chancellor Over Crisis.

The Moi University Alumni Association has called for the immediate removal of Vice Chancellor Isaac Kosgei, accusing him of failing to address the challenges that have pushed the institution into a severe crisis.

The alumni raised these concerns after meeting with Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos at the Ministry of Education in Nairobi.

The association alleged that the university’s management is marred by financial misappropriation and a lack of accountability.

They demanded a forensic audit by the Auditor General to uncover the extent of financial irregularities.

The alumni expressed frustration over what they described as the “politicization” of the university’s management, which they believe has further exacerbated its problems.

Calls for Leadership Overhaul

The association questioned why the Vice Chancellor has not resigned despite the institution’s deteriorating state.

They called for a cultural shift in leadership, advocating for underperforming officials to step aside and allow more competent individuals to take charge.

One member emphasized that taxpayers’ money should not be allocated to the university unless its management is completely overhauled.

They insisted that national funds must not be wasted on institutions failing to address systemic issues, suggesting that Moi University might need to resort to alternative funding sources if the situation persists.

Commendation for Ministry Action

The alumni acknowledged recent efforts by the Ministry of Education to address the challenges facing Moi University and other public universities.

They expressed hope that the resumption of learning in all universities, expected to begin soon, would help stabilize the situation for students.
