National Humanities Contest at Maseno School
Introduction: Maseno School is hosting the National Humanities Contest. This workshop aims to provide participating schools with essential details and guidelines for the upcoming contest in History, CRE (Christian Religious Education), and Geography.
Date and Venue: Date: Sunday, 19, 2024 Time: 8:00 a.m. onwards Venue: Maseno School, P.O. Box 12000105, Maseno, Kenya.
1. Overview of the Contest:
- The Maseno School National Humanities Contest encompasses History, CRE, and Geography subjects.
- Both Senior and Junior entries are welcome, covering relevant topics for each category.
2. Registration Details:
- Schools are required to register sets of eight to ten students for each subject category.
- Each participating set incurs a non-refundable registration fee of Kshs. 3,000.
- Confirm participation by contacting the provided mobile numbers.
3. Contest Guidelines:
- Senior entry includes both paper one and two topics, while Junior entry covers topics from Forms one, two, and three.
- Schools may enter as many sets as desired in each category.
- Teachers are required to accompany their students for invigilation and marking purposes.
4. Subjects and Topics Covered: Geography:
- Senior: Includes topics such as map work (MUNIAS map), internal land-forming processes, wildlife and tourism, etc.
- Junior: Covers Internal Land Forming Processes, Weather, Mining, Vegetation, etc.
History:
- Senior: Topics include Early Man, Development of Agriculture, National Integration, etc.
- Junior: Covers Introduction to History and Government, The People of Kenya Up to the 19th Century, Political Development and the Struggle for Independence in Kenya (1919–1963), etc.
C.R.E. (Christian Religious Education):
- Senior: Includes topics like The Bible, Loyalty to God, Jerusalem Ministry, Christian approach to law, order, and justice, etc.
- Junior: Covers aspects such as the Sinai Covenant, leadership in God’s plan, passion, the death and resurrection of Jesus, etc.
5. Participation Requirements:
- Schools must ensure that students thoroughly revise for the contest.
- Form fours register for senior entry, while Form threes can register for junior.
- Each participating student in the geography contest must carry a MIMIS map.
6. Awards and recognition:
- Winning students and schools will receive trophies, certificates, textbooks, atlases, and cash prizes.
- All participating teachers and schools.
7. Q&A Session: We encourage participants to ask any questions or seek clarification about the contest.
