No Student Involvement in KCSE Cheating, “All Arrested Are Adults,” Says Education CS Ogamba.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba assured the public that no students have been involved in cheating in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
He clarified that recent arrests for examination malpractice primarily concern adults and not the candidates themselves, underscoring the government’s commitment to maintaining exam integrity.
Ogamba commended the collaborative multi-agency approach being employed to secure the KCSE exams.
According to him, this year’s security measures have been strengthened by effective teamwork among various agencies, enabling preemptive actions against potential cheating attempts.

These teams, stationed on the ground, identify and prevent irregularities before they occur, thus ensuring a credible examination process.
Arrests and Security Measures
During a recent inspection of exam material distribution at the Kabete Sub-County DCC-KNEC container in Kiambu County, Ogamba disclosed that multiple arrests have occurred in Siaya and Uasin Gishu counties.
These arrests involve adults linked to malpractice syndicates rather than students. In Siaya, multiple individuals were apprehended, while similar actions were taken in Eldoret.
“So far, there are a number of arrests that have taken place. In Siaya, there were a number of arrests that took place, in Eldoret and all of them relate to adults. The students are not really part and parcel of that particular syndicate,” Ogamba clarified.

He stated that this effort aims to identify and expose those involved, paving the way for decisive legal action. He emphasized that once investigations are complete, all offenders will face the full force of the law, and the government will take stringent measures against the perpetrators.
