Thousands of Civil Servants Set for Salary Increase From August 1.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has announced that the planned salary increase for civil servants will take effect on August 1, 2026, following the salary review directed by President William Ruto.

Speaking in Londiani, Kericho County, the Cabinet Secretary stated that all civil servants across the public service will benefit from the salary adjustment. The implementation is expected to provide a pay increase to thousands of government employees.

According to the Cabinet Secretary, the salary review will apply to both basic salaries and key allowances paid to civil servants. The adjustment forms part of the government’s implementation of the salary review directed by the President.

The Cabinet Secretary also directed all government institutions to immediately migrate their payroll systems to the Government Human Resource Information System (GHRIS). He noted that the migration is intended to facilitate the implementation of the salary increase while enhancing payroll integrity across public institutions.

Geoffrey Ruku stated that the use of the Government Human Resource Information System (GHRIS) will help ensure that only legitimate public servants benefit from the revised salaries and allowances. He added that the exercise is also aimed at identifying and eliminating ghost workers from the government payroll.
