In cases where applicants tie in the ranking process, the following criteria will be used to determine who is selected:

  1. Length of Time Since Graduation – Applicants who have been waiting longer since graduation will be prioritized.
  2. Strength of Academic and Professional Qualifications – The academic and professional certificates submitted by the applicants will be evaluated for their quality.

If there is still a tie in points based on the PTE/DPTE Upgrade Certificate, the aggregate Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grades or their equivalent will be considered.

Employment Preferences

The following categories of applicants will be prioritized for selection:

  • Applicants Without Previous Employment – Those who have not been employed by the Commission on Permanent and Pensionable terms will be given preference.
  • Local Applicants – Preference will also be extended to candidates from the same Sub-County or County as the job opening.

Once academic, professional, and other relevant documents are verified, the Sub-County selection panel will take the following steps:

  • Compile a Sub-County Merit List.
  • Submit the compiled Merit Lists to the TSC County Directors, who will then consolidate them into a County Merit List for further verification at the Headquarters.

Note: Applicants with hearing or speech impairments will be allowed to work with a sign language interpreter during the process.

Vetting Process for Applicants

The selection panel will assess each applicant during the recruitment process to confirm if they meet the requirements specified by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in its advertisement.

Consequences of Providing Misleading Information

If an applicant submits false information, any Application for Employment form filled or Offer of Employment made based on that information will be immediately revoked.

This emphasizes the importance of accuracy and honesty throughout the application process.
