KNEC Releases DSTE SBA Timetable and Instructions (Year 2 – SBA 2): Download
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will offer School Based Assessment (SBA) to teacher trainees undertaking the Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE) through the CBATE e-assessment system.
The DSTE SBA subjects with project/practical component and their corresponding instructions where applicable shall be uploaded in the KNEC portal for colleges to download and administer from 10th June 2024.
The Teacher Trainers shall be required to score the assessments as indicated in the scoring/marking guides.
Scoring guides/marking schemes for learning areas with Project and Practical components shall be uploaded alongside the assessment tools.
TTCs shall upload the teacher trainee’s assessment scores for project/practical in the CBATE portal by 2nd August 2024.

Principals are requested to maintain proper records of all trainees’ assessments outcomes.
The materials required for undertaking the assessment tasks should be obtained from the immediate college environment or improvised as much as possible.
Written assessments will be administered through the KNEC e-assessment portal from 15th July 2024.
Teacher Trainees will access the assessment papers by logging into the KNEC assessment portal eassessment.knec.ac.ke using their assessment numbers and provided password.
Only Teacher Trainees identified by the Centre Managers will be able to access the KNEC e-assessment portal.
Teacher Trainees shall be seated in the assessment room thirty minutes before the time fixed for the assessment in the various papers.
Only in exceptional circumstances will an assessment be given to any teacher trainee who is more than half an hour late. Absolute punctuality is essential for all papers.
Principals are requested to bring this information to the attention of all teacher trainees taking DSTE.
