TSC Trainers/Facilitators Requirements and Selection Process
Competitive selection of trainers and facilitators at all levels ensures the employment of competent officers to conduct training.
The approach takes into account essential competences such as pedagogical knowledge, subject matter expertise, and developing concerns pertinent to classroom practices, as well as the capacity to create training programs and adapt modules to local needs. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) forms a suitable panel to perform the selection process.
Criteria for Selecting Trainers/Facilitators
Primary Level
To become a main level trainer/facilitator, one must meet the following basic requirements:
- P1 certificate in Primary Teacher Education from a recognized institution.
- Exemplary professional competence as a teacher as evidenced by learner performance.
- Have at least five years of teaching experience in a primary school or teacher training college.
- Demonstrated expertise with computers and applications.
- Must serve in the county of choice.
- Must not be a current head or deputy head teacher.
Added advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in education
- Previous attendance at SMASE courses
- Participation in subject association activities
- Participation in student science fairs
- Trainer of Trainers certificate
- Resourcefulness in publishing academic papers, books, and periodicals in relevant subject areas
- Kenya National Examination Council examiner.
Secondary level.
To work as a secondary school trainer/facilitator, candidates must meet the following fundamental requirements:
- Requires a Diploma in Education from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrates exceptional professional teaching competency through subject performance.
- Have at least five years of teaching experience.
- Proficient in computer programs.
- Must work in the desired county
- Cannot be a current school principal or deputy principal.
Retired teachers under 65 who meet the aforementioned qualifications are invited to apply.
