    Education CS Julius Ogamba Reshuffles Leadership of Eight Public Universities.

    Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has announced appointments and reappointments to the governing councils of eight public universities following the publication of Gazette notices dated June 26, 2026.

    The changes affect the leadership of Maasai Mara University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Pwani University, Kisii University, Turkana University, and Chuka University.

    At Maasai Mara University, Professor Geoffrey Ole Maloiy has been appointed as the Chairperson of the University Council for a three-year term. Millicent Leila Lenguris has also been appointed as a member of the council. In addition, Susan Chebet, Elizabeth Ayoo, Dickson Malanga Shikanga, and Agnes Busienei have been reappointed as members of the University Council for a further three-year term.

    At Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Joel Yego and Velma Mudanyi Mudasa have been reappointed as members of the University Council for another three-year term.

    At Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, David Oyugi, Joan Odawa, Ambassador Ambeyi Ligavo, Isaac Kiprop Chebon, and Willis Gesami Omwoyo have been reappointed as members of the University Council for a further three years.

    At South Eastern Kenya University, Esther Wanjiru has been reappointed as a member of the University Council for another three-year term.

    At Pwani University, Professor Mohamed Salim Badamana has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the University Council for a further three-year term. Ambassador Benjamin Mweri, Sang David, Fatma Mohammed, and Japhet Mvoyi Ria have also been reappointed as members of the council.

    At Kisii University, Sara Ruto has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the University Council, while Samson Muchelule has been reappointed as a member of the council for another three-year term.

    At Turkana University, Peter Ndemo has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the University Council. Jared Oyier, Shadrack Kemoi, Kimutai Biwott, and Carolyne Ekwon have also been reappointed as members of the council for a further three-year term.

    At Chuka University, Professor David Serem has been reappointed as the Chairperson of the University Council. Crispus Ndeke, Linet Maganda, Samuel Gitonga, Zephania Mbaka, and Margaret Makhungu have also been reappointed as members of the University Council for another three years.

    The appointments and reappointments take effect in accordance with the Gazette notices issued on June 26, 2026, and are intended to facilitate the continued governance of the affected public universities through their respective councils.

    In separate Gazette notices, National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi reappointed Nicholas Kamuya Ng’arua as a member of the Board of the Capital Markets Authority. The Cabinet Secretary also reappointed four members to the Board of the Insurance Regulatory Authority in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions governing the two institutions.
