TSC Breaks Silence on Viral 12,632 Teacher Recruitment Notice.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as fake a poster circulating on social media claiming that the commission has launched a recruitment exercise to fill 12,632 teaching vacancies allegedly created by teachers who exited the service due to unavoidable circumstances.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, June 30, the commission stated that the advertisement did not originate from TSC and directed members of the public to disregard the information.
According to TSC, no recruitment exercise is currently underway to employ teachers on permanent and pensionable terms to replace officers who have left the service for personal or other reasons.
The commission stated:
“Please be aware that the above circulating information on this poster is fake.”
The fraudulent poster claimed that TSC was recruiting teachers for primary schools, junior schools, and senior schools, with applications purportedly closing on July 20, 2026.
According to the fake advertisement, the alleged vacancies were distributed as follows:
- 8,400 posts for Primary Schools.
- 32 Academic posts.
- 4,200 posts for Senior Schools.
The poster also purported to outline eligibility requirements, application procedures, and directed applicants to submit applications through the commission’s official website.
However, TSC clarified that it did not publish the advertisement and cautioned members of the public against relying on unverified information circulating online.
The commission further warned job seekers against recruitment scams and advised the public to obtain information regarding teacher recruitment, employment opportunities, vacancies, and official announcements exclusively through TSC’s verified communication channels.
The clarification comes days after William Ruto announced that the government would recruit 24,000 additional teachers during the current year, bringing the total number of teachers recruited since 2022 to 124,000.

According to the President, the 24,000 teachers will initially be recruited on contractual terms before being transitioned to permanent and pensionable employment.
In addition, the President announced that, effective July 1, approximately 20,000 teachers who have been serving under contractual arrangements will be absorbed into permanent and pensionable terms by the Teachers Service Commission.
