Cherorot Urges Students to Uphold Discipline and Pursue Academic Excellence.

Kipkelion East Member of Parliament Joseph Cherorot has called on students to uphold discipline, remain committed to their studies and stay focused on achieving academic excellence, stating that education remains the most effective instrument for transforming lives and promoting community development.

The legislator made the remarks during a visit to Tendeno Secondary School in Tendeno/Sorget Ward while en route to the annual Mugumoini land prayer gathering, where he met students, teachers and members of the school community.

Addressing the learners, Cherorot urged them to embrace discipline, dedicate themselves to their education and make responsible decisions that would positively influence their future. He stated that determination, integrity and consistent hard work are fundamental to achieving success, and encouraged students to avoid negative influences that could interfere with their academic progress.

He further challenged the students to establish clear academic and career goals, remain focused on their aspirations and fully utilise the educational opportunities available to them to build successful careers and contribute to national development.

The Member of Parliament also commended teachers for their continued dedication to nurturing learners academically and instilling moral values, noting that their commitment plays a significant role in producing responsible citizens and future leaders.

Cherorot reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the education sector in Kipkelion East through sustained investment in school infrastructure and programmes designed to improve access to quality education. He stated that education remains a key pillar of his development agenda and pledged to continue working with education stakeholders to create a conducive learning environment for all learners.

Over the years, the legislator has supported the construction and expansion of classrooms, laboratories, administration blocks and other learning facilities in public schools across Kipkelion East Constituency through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). The infrastructure projects have contributed to reducing congestion in schools while improving the quality of teaching and learning.

He has also continued to champion bursary programmes targeting students from vulnerable and disadvantaged families, enabling many learners to remain in school despite financial constraints. The bursary initiative has helped ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while promoting equitable access to education throughout the constituency.

In addition to infrastructure development and bursary support, Cherorot has continued to support school improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing academic performance and strengthening education standards through engagement with teachers, school management and other education stakeholders.

The lawmaker reiterated that investment in education remains the most sustainable approach to empowering young people and accelerating socio-economic development. He encouraged students to respect their teachers and parents, uphold discipline both within and outside the school environment, and remain focused on their educational goals, noting that the choices they make today will shape the opportunities available to them in the future.

Cherorot further stated that his office will continue partnering with school boards, teachers, parents and the Ministry of Education to strengthen education standards in Kipkelion East and ensure that every learner, regardless of their background, has an opportunity to realise their full potential.
