KUCCPS Opens Transfer Portal for Students: Full Details on Deadline, Fees and Requirements.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened the inter-institutional transfer application window for students seeking to change their universities and colleges, providing a 30-day period for eligible applicants to submit requests through the online placement system.
In an official notice issued on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, KUCCPS announced that students who had already been placed in universities and colleges can apply for transfers to their preferred institutions through the KUCCPS Student Portal.
“The KUCCPS online system is open for Inter-Institutional Transfer Application for 30 days from today, July 15, 2026,” the agency stated.
The transfer window will allow students to request movement from their current placement institutions to other approved universities and colleges, subject to fulfilment of the required transfer conditions and approval procedures.
KUCCPS Inter-Institution Transfer Requirements
KUCCPS stated that applicants seeking inter-institutional transfers may either retain the academic programme for which they were initially placed or request admission into a different programme offered by the receiving institution.
Students applying to change their programmes will be required to meet the minimum subject requirements and attain the required weighted cluster points for the selected course at the institution they intend to join.
The placement agency further clarified that transfer applications will only be processed after approval has been granted by both institutions involved in the transfer process.
The releasing institution and the receiving institution must approve the request before KUCCPS can complete the transfer process.
KUCCPS Transfer Application Fee
KUCCPS directed all students seeking inter-institutional transfers to submit their applications through the official KUCCPS Student Portal.
Applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable transfer application fee of KSh 1,000 before their requests can be processed.
“To initiate the process, you must submit your application online through your KUCCPS Student’s Portal and pay a transfer application fee of KSh 1,000 following the procedure outlined on the portal,” KUCCPS stated.
KUCCPS Reopens Degree Course Applications
In a separate announcement, KUCCPS reopened applications for selected degree programmes for candidates who qualified for university admission but were not placed during the initial placement exercise due to limited programme capacity.
The opportunity was also extended to eligible candidates who did not submit applications during the initial university placement period.
KUCCPS indicated that the available degree programmes would be accessible through its online application system, subject to meeting the required admission qualifications and availability of spaces in the respective institutions.
Guidance on Admission Letters, HELB Loans and Government Scholarships
KUCCPS further issued guidance to students regarding admission documentation, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding and government scholarships.
Students seeking government financial support through scholarships and loans were directed to submit their applications through the official Higher Education Financing (HEF) portal.
