HELB Opens Loan Applications: Check If You Qualify.

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has officially opened applications for Undergraduate Subsequent Loans for continuing university students, enabling eligible beneficiaries to apply for financial support for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The announcement was made by HELB on July 8 through an official statement, confirming that the application window is now open for continuing undergraduate students seeking subsequent loan financing.

“The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is pleased to announce that applications for the Undergraduate Subsequent Loan are now open,” HELB stated.

According to the Board, the application exercise targets students making their second, third, or fourth loan application, depending on the duration of their academic programmes in accredited public and private universities.

More than 400,000 continuing undergraduate students are expected to benefit from the subsequent loans and scholarships during the current academic year.

The funding is supported by a record allocation of KSh56.3 billion under the 2026/2027 National Budget for university students.
