The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially released the results for the March 2026 Business and Technical examinations.
In a notice issued on July 13, 2026, KNEC announced that Heads of Institutions can collect the examination results in person from New Mitihani House, South C Offices, on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
“KNEC wishes to inform all Heads of Institutions that the March 2026 Business and Technical examination results are officially released. Results are ready for collection at New Mitihani House, South C Offices on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” KNEC stated.
Conditions for Collection of Results
KNEC noted that candidates who sat the March 2026 Business and Technical examinations will only receive their results after all outstanding examination fee arrears have been cleared.
The council directed Heads of Institutions to ensure that all pending examination fees are settled before collecting the results.
In addition, any institution wishing to raise concerns regarding the released results is required to submit queries through the prescribed online process within 30 days from the date of release.
KNEC stated that any result query submitted after August 9, 2026, will attract a penalty fee of Ksh5,000.
“Please ensure all examination fees are cleared prior to collection. Result queries must be submitted online by Heads of Institutions within 30 days. Queries received after 9th August 2026 will attract a fee of Ksh5,000,” KNEC added.
Official Procedure for Result Queries
The council directed that all official examination result queries must be submitted exclusively through the KNEC Query Management Information System (QMIS) portal.
Heads of Institutions are required to lodge all applications through the online platform, with KNEC emphasizing adherence to the established procedures for processing examination-related queries.
Business and Technical Examinations
The Business and Technical examinations are administered by KNEC for post-school learners pursuing middle-level professional, technical, and vocational qualifications.
The examinations are undertaken by candidates enrolled in:
- National Polytechnics
- Technical Training Institutes
- Vocational Training Centres
- Other Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions
These candidates undertake examinations after completing either primary or secondary education, depending on the qualification pathway.
Categories of Candidates
The Business and Technical examination system accommodates several categories of candidates.
Institutional candidates comprise trainees enrolled in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions who pursue programmes based on KNEC-approved curricula.
Artisan Level candidates undertake programmes emphasizing practical occupational competencies and trade skills through competency-focused training.
The examinations are also available to Single and Group Candidates, who register for individual subject papers instead of completing an entire diploma programme in one examination series.
These candidates progress through Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, enabling gradual acquisition of qualifications in accordance with KNEC examination regulations.
Candidate Numbers
KNEC has not published a consolidated official figure for the number of candidates who sat the two most recent Business and Technical examination series.

KNEC has directed all Heads of Institutions to collect the March 2026 examination results within the prescribed timelines, ensure settlement of outstanding examination fees before release of results to candidates, and submit any examination result queries through the official online portal within the stipulated 30-day period.
